The work of Matias Duville concentrates, essentially, on drawing instalations, going through murals and different supports as silk, wood, carpets and plastic. His drawings seem to be the impossible consequence of dreams, trips or desolated landscapes, where the lack of human presence reveals an oniric state of mind that reminds as of fairytales and histories of a distant past, while they do not stop making reference to natural catastrophes. In this sense Duville takes as reference natural destruction redirecting it and modifying it to the point of generating his own series of redesigned disasters. The change in the dynamics of natural chaos generates a long series of encounters where these natural laws are mistaken. This succession of ideas gives as a result a body of works that are a faithful reflection of Duville convulse imagery. The geographic zones created by Duville do not belong to this world, instead they are closer to the idea of mental landscapes. A sort of territory conquest or mind tour. One of the most outstanding characteristics in the work of Duville is the reflection and research in the use of different materials such as Ball-point pen, charcoal, acrylic, soothe, moquette, conglomerate plates, in which he works following the coordinates that each material dictates. The open landscapes series narrated in his long series of papers are an unfolding of anecdotes where thunderclaps burst unexpected, rivers are emptied without boats stop floating, hurricanes put automobiles in orbit, fire moves with the dynamics of water, light has the power of the wind and waves are frozen like happens to the things that we put in the freezer.
